Security forces conduct raids in Mohmand and Bannu as counterterrorism drive continues

RAWALPINDI: Thirteen militants belonging to Indian proxy Fitna Al Khwarij were killed in two separate intelligence-based operations conducted by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on December 12 and 13, the Inter-Services Public Relations said on Sunday.

According to the ISPR, an intelligence-based operation was carried out in Mohmand district on reports of the presence of militants. During the operation, troops effectively engaged the location and, after an intense exchange of fire, seven militants were killed.

In a separate intelligence-based operation in Bannu district, security forces neutralised six more militants, the ISPR said.

The military said sanitisation operations are under way to eliminate any remaining militants in the areas. It added that the counterterrorism campaign under the vision “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace.

The ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies remain determined to eliminate the threat of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
