Three FBR officers have been arrested for leaking the tax records of former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s family.
According to the information received by sources of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), FIA Anti-Corruption arrested three officers of Regional Tax Office Lahore, including 2 Superintendents Arshad. Qureshi, Shahid Niaz, an Upper Division Clerk Adeel Ashraf are included.
According to the sources, the three officers have been arrested from Islamabad after being found guilty in the departmental inquiry, the mobile phones used by the accused, more than ten computers were seized which are being sent to the forensic laboratory.
FIA sources said that a high-level team of FIA is investigating the arrested accused, an FIR has been registered against the accused on the request of FBR.
On the other hand, the FIA presented the arrested accused before the District and Sessions Judge and requested a two-day physical remand. The court approved and handed over the accused Shahzad Niaz, Arshad Ali and Adeel Ashraf to FIA on remand by Judicial Magistrate Umar Shabbir.
The lawyers of the accused and the investigating officer appeared in the court along with the records. Where the FIA requested the session judge to remand the accused for five days. The investigating officer said that the co-accused sold the FBR record to the journalist, the court approved the two-day physical remand of the three accused and handed them over to the FIA.
