Islamabad: Earthquakes of magnitude 6.8 have been felt in various countries of South Asia including three provinces of Pakistan. As a result, four people including two girls have died so far. Several houses collapsed in the Malakund division, resulting in several injuries, including women and children, and more than 70 were unconscious.
Severe earthquake tremors were felt in different areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan at 9:47 am. According to the World Seismological Center, the intensity was recorded at 6.8 magnitude, while the epicenter of Afghanistan was Mount Hindu Kush and the depth was 180 km. Due to the intensity of the earthquake, people came out of their homes in fear, while adhans were also given in the mosques of Peshawar. At the time of the earthquake, there was a stampede in the markets of Rawalpindi.
After the earthquake in different areas of Islamabad, Murree, Malika Kohsar, Kamra, Azad Kashmir, citizens came out of their houses reciting Kalima Tayyaba in a state of fear.
According to Rescue 1122, organizations and volunteers have been alerted. 5 members of a family were injured when the roof of a house collapsed in Sheikh Jana area of Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. While the condition of all the injured is said to be out of danger.
According to the report issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, a girl died due to a wall falling in Madin, while a girl died due to fear in Abbottabad. A person was killed when the roof of a house collapsed in Shamuzai.
A resident of a residential building in Sector G7 of Islamabad was descending the stairs during the earthquake when he suffered a heart attack and died. According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, the said person was brought to Polyclinic Hospital for medical assistance, but he died due to a heart attack.
