52 students honoured at SZABIST Dubai Convocation

DUBAI: SZABIST Dubai celebrated its graduation ceremony on May 6, honouring the achievements of 52 students at the Millennium Plaza Downtown, Shaikh Zayed Road.

SZABIST Dubai campus opened its doors offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in 2003. Since its inception, SZABIST Dubai has seen 1,386 graduating students. The year 2023 also marks 20 years of SZABIST Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Representing the senior management and the SZABIST Board of Trustees, President Ms. Shahnaz Wazir Ali and Dean of Computing and Engineering and Vice President Academics Prof. Dr. Muhammad Altaf Mukati were present on the auspicious occasion. The event was graced by Dr. Adeem Khan, Trade & Investment Counsellor of Pakistan in the UAE, as the honourable chief guest.

It was an opportunity to celebrate and honour 52 university graduates, many of whom have shown tremendous commitment to their studies. These exceptional graduates were recognised for their academic excellence by being awarded gold and silver medals and Chancellor’s Honour Rolls.

Congratulating the graduates, Dr. Adeem Khan said: “You have all worked incredibly hard to reach this milestone in your lives, and it is truly an impressive achievement. Today marks a momentous occasion in your life, one that you will always cherish.”

Professor Dr. Hummayoun Naeem, Head of Campus SZABIST Dubai, advised the graduates, saying: “As you graduate today, you have the opportunity to do your part, to help create a better future for your families, a better future for your communities, and, a better future for you and for the UAE and Pakistan. I would like to call each of you to action, to go out from here, as a proud Pakistani and a proud member of the UAE society, with confidence, commitment and dedication”.

The evening ended with group photos and followed by dinner for the graduates, guests, staff and faculty of SZABIST Dubai.

The Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) is a fully chartered institute established through a Legislative Act of the Sindh Assembly (Sindh Act No. XI of 1995).

SZABIST has campuses in Karachi, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Larkana and Dubai.

SZABIST Dubai Campus is the only Pakistani university in Dubai, and is approved and recognised by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, as a degree granting institution and is licensed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Dubai. The academic qualifications granted by this institution and certified by KHDA shall be recognised in the emirate of Dubai by all public and private entities for all purposes.

SZABIST Dubai offers undergraduate programmes in Business Administration, Computer Science, Media Science and postgraduate programmes in Business Administration, Computer Science, Executive MBA and Project Management, at an affordable tuition fee, while maintaining high teaching standards.

In October 2003, the first academic session commenced at the Dubai Knowledge Village Campus in the faculties of Management Sciences and Computer Sciences. The Dubai Campus further expanded to its new campus in Dubai International Academic City Block 10.
