6 dead, 20 injured in D I Khan blast

ISLAMABAD: A powerful explosion in Tank Adda in Ponda Bazaar of Dera Ismail Khan left at least six people dead and 20 injured on Friday.

Police officials said gunshots were also heard after the explosion.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa bomb disposal squad and law enforcement agencies reached the blast site and cordoned off the area. Emergency was implemented in D I Khan hospitals.

According to initial reports, the explosive device was planted on a motorbike.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Caretaker Information Minister Firdous Jamal Shah said that according to initial reports the blast targeted a police van.

“Those elements involved in the explosion and terrorism will be brought to justice,” the minister said.
