RAWALPINDI: The security forces on Thursday killed eight terrorists and apprehended five others including their facilitators in separate intelligence-based operations conducted in two districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said an intense fire exchange took place between the Army troops and terrorists during the conduct of the first operation in general area Jani Khel of Bannu district.
As many as six terrorists were sent to hell while five were apprehended during the operation. These terrorists were involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces, including the facilitation of the motorcycle borne suicide attack on a military convoy at Jani Khel on August 31, in which nine brave sons of the soil laid their lives, it said.
In another operation in general area Datta Khel, North Waziristan district, two terrorists were sent to hell in a fierce encounter between the security forces and terrorists, the official news agency reported.
However, weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists, whereas sanitisation of the surrounding areas was being carried out to neutralise any other terrorists found in the area.
The ISPR said that the locals of the area appreciated the operation, whereas the security forces of the country remained determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
