MUZAFFARABAD – In a significant development, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has lost one more seat in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) Assembly after the Election Tribunal declared the election in LA35 Jammu2 null and void due to allegations of rigging.
The decision came in response to an application filed by Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) candidate Chaudhry Ismail, who had raised concerns about irregularities in the polling process.
The tribunal conducted a thorough investigation and found that the rigging allegations were substantiated. As a result, the Election Commission has been ordered to take appropriate action against the officials involved in the irregularities.
Furthermore, the tribunal has instructed the Election Commission to re-conduct the election in LA 35 Jammu 2 to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.
This latest development has reduced PTI’s tally in the 2021 AJ&K Legislative Assembly elections from 26 to 25 seats. On the other hand, the PMLN has gained an additional seat, bringing its total to seven.
The loss of another seat in the AJ&K Assembly is a significant setback for PTI, which is already grappling with various challenges at the national level.
This development underscores the importance of maintaining the integrity of electoral processes and the commitment to ensuring that elections are free, fair, and transparent in Pakistan’s democratic system.
