Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced an extension to the deadline for voter registration, transfer, and data correction, giving citizens more time to exercise their democratic rights. The new deadline is set for October 28, 2023, providing a three-day grace period beyond the previously fixed date of October 25.
The decision to extend the deadline was made during a meeting of the Election Commission chaired by Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in Islamabad on Tuesday. This move is aimed at facilitating the general public in ensuring their participation in the upcoming electoral processes.
To avail of this extension, eligible citizens are encouraged to visit the ECP’s official website, www.ecp.gov.pk, and download Form 21 for voter registration and transfer. After completing the form, it must be submitted to the District Election Commission office for processing.
The ECP is keen to emphasize that this extension applies to all Pakistanis aged eighteen years and above, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, disability status, or any other factors. The Commission encourages citizens from all walks of life, including women, youth, minority communities, persons with disabilities, the transgender community, and all disadvantaged sections of society to take this opportunity to register and verify their voter information.
Additionally, to check the information related to their voter status, all eligible citizens can send their identity card number to 8300. This convenient service allows individuals to confirm their voting details and participate in the electoral process effectively.
The Election Commission of Pakistan is dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and participatory democracy, and this deadline extension underscores its commitment to ensuring that every eligible citizen’s voice is heard in the democratic process.
