Rawalpindi: An improvised explosive device (IED) blast claimed the lives of two Pakistani soldiers, including an army officer, during an operation in Balochistan’s Harnai district, the military’s media wing reported on Thursday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that security forces had mobilized to counter a terrorist threat in Harnai, where militants were reportedly planning attacks on civilians. During the operation, Pakistan Army troops engaged and neutralized three terrorists.
However, an IED detonated under the lead vehicle, resulting in the martyrdom of Major Muhammad Haseeb, 28, from Multan, who was leading his team, and Havildar Noor Ahmed, 38, from Barkhan. Both soldiers sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
ISPR emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces, with the support of the nation, remain committed to countering threats and ensuring peace in Balochistan. These sacrifices only strengthen Pakistan’s resolve against militancy, which has surged across the country, especially in KP and Balochistan, since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan.
