Security forces eliminates six terrorists in North Waziristan IBO

Rawalpindi: In a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO), security forces killed at least six terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.

The military’s media wing reported that the operation was carried out in response to intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the general area of Ghulam Khan Kalay, North Waziristan.

“During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij [terrorists] location, as a result of which, six khwarij were sent to hell,” the ISPR statement read.

Security forces also recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the eliminated terrorists. The ISPR added that the slain militants were actively involved in numerous attacks against security forces and the killing of innocent civilians.

Following the operation, a sanitisation effort was conducted to ensure the elimination of any remaining terrorist threats in the area. The security forces reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating terrorism and maintaining peace in the country.

The operation comes amid a sharp increase in terrorist attacks across the country. According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), terror incidents surged by 42% in January 2025 compared to the previous month.

Data from PICSS revealed that at least 74 militant attacks occurred nationwide, leading to 91 fatalities, including 35 security personnel, 20 civilians, and 36 militants. Additionally, 117 individuals sustained injuries, comprising 53 security forces personnel, 54 civilians, and 10 militants.
