Ahsan Iqbal Meets Dubai Executive Council Leadership

Dubai: Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, met with H.E. Abdullah Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Dubai, to explore avenues of bilateral cooperation in governance, innovation, and strategic planning.

The high-level meeting was attended by senior UAE officials including Dr. Hazza Khalfan Al Nuaimi, Assistant Secretary-General for Excellence and Government Services, and Mr. Khalid Juma Belhoul, Director of Partnerships and International Relations. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, along with the Trade and Press Counsellors, also participated.

H.E. Al Basti welcomed the delegation and presented an overview of the Dubai Government Excellence Program—launched in 2003 to elevate public sector performance through innovation, citizen satisfaction, and global best practices. He emphasized the importance of smart governance, performance metrics, and employee engagement in achieving service excellence.

Minister Iqbal commended Dubai’s forward-looking governance model and shared Pakistan’s vision to become a $1 trillion economy by 2035. He highlighted the country’s focus on digital transformation, political stability, and institutional reforms as foundational to long-term growth and global competitiveness.

He also discussed Pakistan’s ongoing public sector and civil service reforms aimed at creating agile, citizen-focused governance structures.

Both sides acknowledged the importance of strategic leadership, transparency, and accountability in governance and expressed strong interest in bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of human capital development, IT, and financial services.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to fostering innovation-led partnerships and knowledge exchange between the two nations.
