PM Shehbaz Sharif Visits Pakistan Navy Dockyard

Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, paid a visit to the Pakistan Navy Dockyard on Monday, to honour the Pakistan Navy’s crucial contributions to Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, underscoring its vital role in national defence and maritime security.

Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister was warmly received by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf. He was joined by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Baber Sidhu, highlighting the unified presence of the country’s military leadership.

During the visit, the Prime Minister boarded the Type-054A Class Destroyer, PNS TAIMUR, where he was briefed by the Commander Pakistan Fleet on the Navy’s strategic outlook, operational readiness, and notable achievements during the ongoing operation.

In his interaction with officers and sailors, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Pakistan Navy’s professionalism, preparedness, and unwavering dedication to safeguarding the nation’s maritime frontiers. He expressed the nation’s profound gratitude and reiterated full confidence in the capabilities of Pakistan’s Armed Forces.

“The Pakistan Navy has consistently demonstrated operational excellence and an unyielding commitment to protecting our maritime interests,” the Prime Minister said in his address.

He commended the Navy’s robust deterrent posture and its key role in maintaining maritime sovereignty, securing sea lines of communication, and ensuring uninterrupted maritime trade. The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan Navy’s layered and assured seaward defence continues to serve as a bulwark against adversarial threats.

Drawing attention to the Navy’s legacy of strategic operations, he cited the historic Operation Dwarka as a testament to Pakistan Navy’s ability to respond with strength and precision when required.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by senior members of his cabinet, including Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Mr. Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mr. Attaulah Tarar, and Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

The Navy Dockyard visit underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening maritime defence and recognizing the contributions of the Pakistan Navy in securing national interests in a complex regional environment.
