Pakistan’s star javelin thrower and Olympian Arshad Nadeem has been awarded the Best Asian Athlete title by Asian Athletics, recognizing his exceptional achievements. The honour was presented during an official ceremony held on Sunday in the city of Gumi, South Korea. This award acknowledges Arshad’s outstanding performances and his contributions to athletics across Asia.
Following the ceremony, Arshad took to his official X account and wrote, “Honoured to receive the ‘best male athlete of Asia’ award by Asian Athletics. I am humbled and recharged to give better performances.” The event took place after the Asian athletics meeting in South Korea and further highlighted his status as one of the continent’s top athletes.
Several dignitaries attended the ceremony, including Major General (retd) Muhammad Akram Sahi, Chairman of South Asian Athletics, who was present when the award was presented. Brigadier (retd) Wajahat Hussain Sahi, President of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan, along with Secretary Colonel (retd) Shahjahan and Salman Iqbal Butt, were also among the notable attendees. This accolade adds to Arshad’s growing list of achievements and shines a spotlight on Pakistan’s rising prominence in athletics.

Arshad Nadeem is Pakistan’s first-ever individual Olympic gold medalist and the nation’s first medalist in athletics at the Summer Games. He won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a record-breaking throw of 92.97 meters. To date, he has won multiple medals in major events such as the Olympics, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, Islamic Solidarity Games, South Asian Games, and Asian U20 Championships.
He is also set to compete in the upcoming Asian Athletics Championship in South Korea, where he will continue to represent Pakistan on the international stage.
