23 militants killed in separate security operations in Kurram

RAWALPINDI: The military’s media wing said on Wednesday that 23 militants were killed during two separate intelligence-based operations in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a statement issued by ISPR, security forces conducted a targeted operation on November 19 after receiving intelligence about the presence of militants in the area. During the exchange of fire, 12 militants were killed.

In a separate operation in the same general area, based on further intelligence, security forces engaged another militant group and killed 11 more militants, the statement said.

The military added that security forces are continuing sanitization operations in the area to clear out any remaining militants.

The statement said operations against militant groups will continue as part of the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the national security strategy to eliminate terrorism from the country.
