Two Women Killed in Scooter-V8 Collision in Islamabad

Underage driver in custody as police investigate reckless driving and overspeeding on Constitution Avenue.

ISLAMABAD : Two women riding a scooter were tragically killed in a traffic accident near Constitution Avenue Secretariat Chowk on Monday, according to police reports. A speeding V8 vehicle, allegedly driven by an underage driver, collided with the scooter, resulting in the immediate deaths of both women.

The victims, identified as Samreen Hussain (26–27) and her friend Tabinda Batool (26–27), were returning from PNCA when the crash occurred, as stated in the FIR filed by Samreen’s brother, Adnan Tajamul. Authorities said the white vehicle struck the scooter due to the driver’s negligence, recklessness, and overspeeding.

The suspect, Abu Zar, son of Muhammad Asif, has been granted a seven-day physical remand. Investigations revealed that he did not have an identity card or driving license at the time, though he claimed to possess a valid ID. According to the charge sheet, the accused admitted to recording a Snapchat video moments before the crash and discarding his mobile phone afterward. Police have been directed to recover the phone, verify his age through a medical test, obtain CCTV footage from the accident site, and determine whether anyone else was in the vehicle.

Both women were immediately shifted to PIMS Hospital via 1122 ambulance, where they were pronounced dead upon arrival. The police have confirmed that legal proceedings will follow strict adherence to the law, and a case has been registered at the Secretariat Police Station.

Investigations continue to determine the exact speed of the vehicle and the sequence of events that led to the fatal collision.
