Pakistan, Egypt launch joint counter-terrorism exercise Thunder-II

Two-week drills at Cherat to enhance military cooperation and operational skills

CHERAT: Pakistan and Egypt have launched a bilateral counter-terrorism exercise, named Thunder-II, aimed at strengthening military cooperation and professional expertise.

The two-week exercise began on April 6, 2026, at the Special Operations School. Troops from the Special Services Group and the Egyptian Army Special Forces are participating. The Commandant of the Special Operations School attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the exercise aims to enhance professional skills through joint training while further cementing the longstanding military-to-military relations between Pakistan and Egypt. Participating troops are expected to benefit from sharing mutual experiences and expertise, particularly in conducting counter-terrorism operations.
