WEB DESK: Fifteen security personnel were martyred after terrorists attacked a police check post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, terrorists launched what it described as a “cowardly” attack on the check post. Security forces responded immediately, thwarting the attackers’ plans and engaging the fleeing militants.
ISPR said 12 terrorists were killed during the response operation.
The military said the attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the check post, causing extensive damage to the facility.
As a result of the attack, 12 Pakistan Army personnel, two police officials and one forest department official embraced martyrdom, the statement said.
ISPR added that a search and clearance operation was continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists.
The military’s media wing said operations under Azm-e-Istehkam would continue until the elimination of what it described as “externally sponsored” terrorism.
It added that the sacrifices of the martyrs had further strengthened the nation’s resolve to defend Pakistan’s security and eradicate terrorism.
