Islamabad: The FIA has registered a case against Shaukat Tareen for sedition, seditious conversation under the PICA Act in connection with the audio leaks in which provincial finance ministers Taimur Jhagra and Mohsin Leghari have also been named.
According to Leading News, this case has been registered in FIA Cyber Crime Circle Islamabad under PICA Act, 124a and 505 PPC against Rawalpindi resident Arshad Mehmood.
Former finance minister KP Taimur Jhagra and former Punjab provincial finance minister Mohsin Khan Leghari have also been named in the case.
The lawsuit mentions two audio clips, in which Shaukat Tareen is heard instructing her to “write this and write nothing.” According to the audio, Shaukat Tareen said, “That’s all we want him to Which is to put pressure on these people”. They are dragging their feet and bringing us in. They are making terrorism cases against us. They are going absolutely spot free, we did not let them happen.
According to the text of the FIR, Mohsin Laghari said that can Pakistan as a state suffer because of this? So Shaukat Tareen said, “Frankly speaking, you know that the way your chairman and everyone else is being treated is not hurting the state.”
According to the case, the accused Shaukat Tareen clearly asked the finance minister to write letters stating that their respective ministries would not return the surplus budget to the federal government. This will seriously affect the ongoing agreements between the government and the IMF. During the investigation, accused Shaukat Tareen was summoned and questioned regarding the content of the alleged audio clips.
The text further states that Shaukat Tareen could not give satisfactory answers which shows that the accused is hiding the facts related to the instant case. Lying about his intentions and motives behind it. Alleged conversations and such actions may disturb public peace and may worsen the situation between the pillars of the state.
According to the text of the case, due to the economic situation of Pakistan, a sense of fear, danger and intimidation can be created for every citizen of the state. The alleged conversation could be construed as an act of sedition against the state.
