ABU DHABI: A new initiative aimed at recognising individuals and organisations contributing to community development in the UAE capital has been launched under the title of the ADR Community Champions Awards 2025.
The awards, organised by Abu Dhabi Review (ADR), seek to highlight the work of both nationals and expatriates who have made a meaningful impact on society. Nominations for the awards have now opened, with the event scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
According to the organisers, the awards will feature ten categories spanning youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, cultural heritage, health and wellness, and social inclusion, among others. A panel of judges representing Abu Dhabi’s diverse population will assess the entries, while winners will be announced at a ceremony expected to draw over 100 guests.
Founded by media entrepreneur Asha Sherwood, Abu Dhabi Review has described the awards as a continuation of its mission to provide a platform for local voices and foster community connections. Ms Sherwood said the initiative coincides with the UAE’s “Year of Community” and aims to acknowledge those who work quietly but effectively for the greater good.

“Abu Dhabi is home to countless unsung heroes who dedicate their time and energy to others. Through these awards, we want to celebrate them and encourage more people to take part in community service,” she said.
Shortlisted nominees will receive recognition through ADR’s media platforms, while businesses have been invited to support the initiative through sponsorships aligned with corporate social responsibility goals.
The award categories include Outstanding Community Service, Youth Empowerment, Volunteer Excellence, Cultural Heritage & Arts, Environmental Sustainability, Innovation in Community Engagement, Social Inclusion & Diversity, Health & Wellness, and Educational Impact.
