DUBAI: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Faisal Niaz Tirmizi visited Art Dubai and appreciated the work of Pakistan’s critically acclaimed artist Adeela Suleman and others.
The Art Dubai, the leading international art fair in the Middle East, is being held from March 1-5 and artists from around the world are taking part in it.
Pakistan is represented in the Art Dubai by Canvas Gallery in the exhibition which is showcasing the works of more 100 galleries from around the world.
Ambassador Tirmizi said it is proud moment for Pakistan and its artist community that Canvas Gallery is featuring in Art Dubai.
For this series, Adeela Suleman has created eight artworks in different forms; ranging from relief and tapestry to hand-painted ceramic plates.
Alongside incorporating different media and referencing art styles such as Mughal miniature painting, the artist has adopted ideas from Greek mythology, Ottoman Empire, Iranian tales, and subcontinent history.
Adeela Suleman said: “Throughout history, artists have perceived violence through merged colours, patterns and textures to depict wartime beliefs, ideologies, practices, symbols and values. My work investigates not only artists’ expression towards terror but also the deep-rooted meaning of violence itself.”
Adeela Suleman’s booth received a large number of visitors and art patrons at the start of the exhibition. She invited all art lovers to visit her booth at E5 Johara at Art Dubai Contemporary.
