Abu Dhabi: The official opening of the AIM Congress 2025 took place on Monday, marking a pivotal moment in the global conversation on foreign direct investment (FDI) and international economic collaboration. The congress, known for bringing together leaders and experts in business and investment, featured high-profile speeches from key figures such as H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Alzeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and H.E. Vahagn Garniki Khachaturyan, President of Armenia.
During his address, Dr. Alzeyoudi underscored the UAE’s strategic commitment to investment-driven growth, highlighting the country’s allocation of $22.3 billion to international projects in 2023 alone. These investments, particularly in renewable energy and infrastructure, reflect the UAE’s ongoing model of economic diplomacy. “We envision a globalized investment landscape where growth and social development go hand in hand,” he stated.
President Khachaturyan took the opportunity to showcase Armenia’s focus on innovation and education, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics. He also emphasized the importance of responsible investments, noting that global challenges like inequality and human rights must be addressed through collaborative, forward-thinking efforts.

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, stressed the need for Arab nations to unite in embracing future challenges, particularly technological advancement.
The congress also heard from leaders like H.E. Judith Suminwa Tuluka, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and H.E. Günther Oettinger, former Vice President of the European Commission. Both emphasized the importance of stability and cooperation in fostering international trade and investment.
