Al-Qadir Trust Case: NAB Raids Bahria town Rawalpindi office

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) made headlines as it conducted a raid on Bahria Town Rawalpindi office on Tuesday, with sources indicating the operation’s focus on the Al-Qadir Trust University case.

According to insider reports, the anti-corruption watchdog’s team delved into Bahria Town Rawalpindi office to scour for records related to Al-Qadir Trust University. Notably, alongside NAB, teams from the Punjab police and elite forces were present during the operation.

The investigation takes a significant turn as Al-Qadir Trust University finds itself entangled in a high-profile case, notably linked to the £190 million National Crime Agency (NCA) settlement reference involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan.

In response to the raid, Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz Hussain took to X, formerly known as Twitter, asserting his resilience against potential pressures, affirming that he would not succumb to becoming “an approver”.

Moreover, sources disclosed that NAB’s scrutiny extended beyond the immediate case, with an investigation launched into alleged irregularities against Bahria Town. Particularly, attention has been drawn to the acquisition of land earmarked for establishing a zoo, allegedly repurposed for Bahria Enclave’s project.

The raid underscores the ongoing battle against corruption in Pakistan’s corporate and real estate sectors, reflecting NAB’s commitment to upholding accountability and transparency in governance. As investigations unfold, the nation awaits further developments in this unfolding saga.
