Argentina Bans 15,000 Violent Fans from Club World Cup

Buenos Aires: Argentina Security Minister Patricia Bullrich has officially handed over a list of more than 15,000 violent football fans to the United States Embassy in Buenos Aires ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, set to take place across U.S. cities from June 14 to July 13.

The list, compiled through Argentina’s “Tribuna Segura” (Safe Stands) programme, identifies individuals who are banned from entering stadiums due to previous acts of violence or criminal conduct at football events.

For us, this is extremely important because no violent person who has committed any crime in Argentine stadiums will be able to attend this sporting event,” Bullrich stated during a press briefing.

“Tribuna Segura” has screened over 4 million fans at 1,328 matches since the start of the current administration. The initiative has led to the detection of 1,166 individuals with outstanding arrest warrants and more than 40 administrative bans on stadium access.

The preventive move comes as Argentine powerhouses Boca Juniors and River Plate prepare to represent South America in the newly expanded 32-team Club World Cup. Boca has been drawn into Group C alongside Bayern Munich, Auckland City, and Benfica, while River Plate will face Urawa Red Diamonds, Monterrey, and Inter Milan in Group E.

The Argentine government emphasized that the measure is part of broader efforts to ensure the safety and integrity of the global tournament and to cooperate closely with international partners on security.
