Audio leak shows Bushra Bibi, Imran’s sisters not on same page

ISLAMABAD: The audio leak saga continues in the country with the latest being that of a conversation between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi with eminent lawyer Latif Khosa.

Condemning the audio leak that surfaced on Thursday, Latif Khosa has said that it was a private conversation between him and his client, adding that whoever is responsible for it should be ashamed of himself.

Clearly displeased with the audio leak, Latif Khosa questioned the ethics of leaking private conversations.

The leaked conversation – when the former prime minister was in Attock Jail in August – mostly revolves around some disagreement between Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan’s sisters with regard to engaging Khosa as the PTI chief’s counsel in various cases.

Bushra Bibi can be heard discussing an incident when Imran Khan’s sisters complained about alleged Latif Khosa misbehaviour related to a case. The former first lady also talks about her concerns for her husband’s safety in Attock Jail as she feared Imran Khan would be poisoned in prison.

She had also expressed the same concerns to Punjab’s home secretary.

In the audio, Bushra Bibi tells Latif Khosa that she has informed Imran Khan’s sisters of her decision to hire him as her lawyer and also that Latif Khosa would handle all her cases.

She tells the lawyer that Imran Khan’s sisters accused Latif Khosa of misbehaviour during a meeting at his office, where they protested against including the poisoning claim in the petition filed in the Islamabad High Court. In spite of these allegations, Bushra Bibi says that she told Imran Khan that Khosa would be her lawyer in all cases.

Latif Khosa tries to explain to Bushra Bibi what had happened and that he did not misbehave with them.

Bushra Bibi also tells Latif Khosa that they [Imran Khan’s sisters] were saying that he [Khosa] spoke ill of Imran Khan with regard to the cipher issue as well as about her [Bushra Bibi] and the May 9 incidents.

Islamabad High Court’s Justice Babar Sattar has reportedly ordered an investigation to identify the source of the audio leaks.
