Bajaur: At least 40 people, including a local leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), were killed and more than 150 injured in a suicide blast that ripped through a crowded JUI-F workers’ convention in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, police and rescue workers said.
According to Leading News, the explosion took place near Dubai Mor of Khar area in Khyber Agency, where the JUI Workers Convention was going on. As soon as the explosion was reported, the police and aid agencies reached the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital.
IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan confirmed that the Bajaur blast was a suicide attack for which the attacker had already arrived.
Speaking to the media, IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, referring to preliminary information, said that the attacker blew himself up during the speech. He further said that the process of geo-fencing has been started since the incident.
