Muhammad Hashir, a student of Balochistan Residential College Loralai, has won a bronze medal for Pakistan at the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) 2025, bringing pride to the country’s scientific community.
The global contest — held from November 23 to December 2 in Sirius, Russia — featured participants from 80 countries competing in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Hashir excelled among hundreds of students under the age of 16, earning international recognition through his strong analytical and scientific skills.
Pakistan’s six-member delegation was selected through a national competition organised by the Pakistan Science Foundation and the Ministry of Science and Technology. The team included Muhammad Zakariya (KP), Faisal Sattar (Balochistan), Mahendra Maheshwari (Sindh), Yasir Habib (Punjab) and Hamdan Ishaq (Federal region), supported by experienced team leaders during both theoretical and experimental rounds.
The IJSO is considered one of the world’s leading platforms for identifying and nurturing young scientific talent. Pakistan’s participation reflects its commitment to strengthening STEM education and preparing students for global scientific challenges.

The Pakistan Science Foundation and the Ministry of Science and Technology congratulated the entire team, noting that Hashir’s medal is a testament to the hard work of students, teachers and mentors nationwide.
