DUBAI: At the 125th Mahzooz draws, Tandin — a UAE resident from Bhutan — won AED 1,000,000 to become Mahzooz’s seventh guaranteed millionaire, while a 37-year-old barber from Bangladesh walked away with 1kg gold on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.
Tandin, the new millionaire who works as a barista at a known coffee shop network in Al Ain, is also the first expat from Bhutan to win such a prize with Mahzooz.
Though he knew about Mahzooz since 2020, he didn’t think about participating until about a month ago when he bought his first Mahzooz water bottle. Tandin landed the AED 1,000,000 prize in his fourth attempt.
Despite now being a millionaire, Tandin, who has been living in the UAE for the past five years, still can’t get over his shock. This is the first time he has participated in a draw and won so much money. “I feel overwhelmed, and I am still in disbelief that I have become financially independent,” said the 28-year-old Tandin.
The Bhutanese expat recalls with fondness the moment he learned of his victory. He was at work at the coffee shop when the live draw took place, so he did not realize he had become a millionaire until his immediate supervisor called him to his office and informed him that he had won AED 1,000,000.
Tandin initially assumed his supervisor was joking and that it was not true, but when he saw his friends congratulating him on the WhatsApp group chat and posting screenshots of Tandin’s name from the Mahzooz live draw, he decided to check his Mahzooz account. He discovered the prize money in his account at that time and was surprised to learn that he had won.
Tandin, who is planning to get married soon, intends to continue working at his current job. “I need to be very careful where I invest my money and consider many factors before making a decision because I am getting married soon and will be using some of my prize money for the wedding expenses. I may also make a few investments back home in Bhutan and help a few of my friends who have been supporting me during my time here in the UAE,” Tandin explained.
A 37-year-old Bangladeshi national living in Ras Al Khaimah also won big during the 125th Mahzooz draw. As part of Mahzooz’s Golden Eid promotion, participants won various gold prizes throughout the holy month of Ramadan, totalling 2kg of gold.
Bikash became the first winner from Bangladesh to win the coveted 1kg of gold prize. Bikash works as a barber and has been a regular participant of Mahzooz since its inception.
“I was overjoyed to learn that I am the lucky recipient of this much gold. This is a life-changing moment for me, and I feel thankful,” said Bikas with pleasure.
For only AED 35, participants can purchase a bottle of Mahzooz water, and enter the weekly draw every Saturday consisting of the Grand Draw, for a chance to win the new top prize of AED 20,000,000 and the new weekly Raffle Draw, which will grant AED 1,000,000 every week to a guaranteed millionaire-to-be.
Mahzooz means ‘lucky’ in Arabic and is the UAE’s favourite draw that offers participants a life-changing opportunity to win millions every week. Mahzooz is dedicated to making people’s dreams come true and giving back to the community.
