Peshawar: Tragedy struck Peshawar’s Warsak road area on Monday when a blast targeted a vehicle belonging to the Frontier Corps (FC), resulting in at least one FC official losing their life and injuring 11 individuals.
The Superintendent of Warsak Division expressed deep sorrow over the incident and suggested that the blast may have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). However, a conclusive determination of the explosion’s nature awaits a report from the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU). Officials are actively engaged in a thorough investigation of the incident.
The explosion unfolded near the Machni Gate police station, inflicting injuries upon eight FC personnel and three civilians. In response to the attack, security forces swiftly cordoned off the area, and emergency response teams promptly transported the injured to nearby medical facilities.
Initially, the wounded were taken to Prime Hospital, but they are now being transferred by the Rescue 1122 team to Lady Reading Hospital for further medical treatment.
A spokesperson from Lady Reading Hospital confirmed that four of the victims received immediate medical attention and are fortunately in stable condition.
The SP overseeing the case emphasized that the exact nature of the blast is under investigation. Both security forces and the police have secured the area and initiated a comprehensive examination to ascertain the details surrounding this unfortunate incident.
