ISLAMABAD: Chief of Naval Staff of Brazilian Armed Forces Admiral Andre Luiz Silva Lima De Santana Mendes called on Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif on Tuesday.
During the meeting, matters related to regional situation and bilateral cooperation came under discussion, a news release said.
The defence minister said that Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Brazil and intended to expand cooperation in all fields, the official news agency reported.
Highlighting Pakistan’s role in the region and its relation with neighboring countries, the defence minister dilated on Pakistan’s efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
Both the leaders exchanged views on enhancing and diversifying defence cooperation for which considerable potential exists between two countries.
The two sides also agreed on the institutionalisation of defence cooperation through a memorandum of understanding. Moreover, regular exchange of trainees to each other’s training institutions also came under discussion.
