Indian teenagers Dev and Dhiren win UAE Golden Jubilee Badminton championship after thrilling finals

Some 120 teams competed at the Leading Sports event supported by the Dubai Sports Council

Young talent emerges at UAE Golden Jubilee Badminton Championship

Dubai: Young Indian brothers Dev and Dhiren lifted the winner’s trophy after smashing the experienced Noushad and Shmasu in a thrilling final of the Men’s Double (MD-B) category in the UAE National Day Golden Jubilee Badminton Championship.

Some 60 teams comprising of 120 players including females from across the UAE participated in the championship organized by Leading Sports—a well-known Dubai based sports services company. The championship played at the D-2 Sports Academy in Dubai on Friday, December 24 as part of the UAE’s Year of the 50th celebrations.

Teenagers Dev and Dhiran, who are also brothers, were thrilled to beat the much experienced players while making their way to the finals. “We can’t believe we made it to the finals and beat so many experienced players,” said Dev and Dhiran after receiving their trophy from Omar Abbasi from UA Logistics. They also thanked Leading Sports for organising a successful event in a professional way. The winners also got cash prize while the runners up got a trophy and cash prize from Raja Wajid Kabeer.

In the second category, MD-D (Men’s Double), Ismail Sha and Riaz defeated Safeed and Hamza to claim the trophy. Famous businessman Raja Mohammed Khan, Chairman of RMK Industries in UAE, awarded the winner’s trophy while Khalid Malik, Marketing Manager of the Khaleej Times, gave the runners up trophy and cash prize.

In the third category, MXD-C (Mix Doubles), Shourya and Rimsha beat Rinitha and Ameen in an exciting final. The winners got a trophy and cash prize from Wajid Kabeer, managing director of Al Arab Tent, while Amjad Kabeer, president of Chinar Wing of Pakistan Association, Dubai, gave the runners up trophy and cash prize.

The event was supported by the RMK Industries, UA Logistics, Al Arab Tent, Fly Hawk Group while the media partners included: The Khaleej Times, Neo TV, Leading News, Janab-e-Manzal and Urdu Point.

CEO of Leading Sports, Ammar Ahmed, and Sports Director, Raja Asad Khalid, presented a special shield to Khalid Malik, marketing manager of the Khaleej Times, for supporting the community event.  “I am really grateful to all the sponsors who extended their support for this event to make it a success. We will continue to hold such healthy activities under the guidelines of the Dubai Sports Council,” said Ammar.

Speaking at the event, Raja Khan Mohammed, praised the talented players who competed in the event. “I also congratulate Leading Sports for organising this championship as part of the UAE’s Year of the 50th celebrations. This is the best way to engage communities in healthy activities.”
