SHARJAH: Former senator and federal minister Babar Khan Ghauri has come up with a new economic formula to end Pakistan’s economic woes.
“Build new cities, create economic revolution”, is Ghauri’s suggestion to improve the economy of the country which is on a consistent decline.
The former senator gave this suggestion while having a formal conversation with the distinguished members of the Pakistan business community at the famous Pakistani restaurant ‘Al Nawab’ in Sharjah.
The event was organised by the business group that introduced ‘Made in Pakistan’ in the UAE and the men behind Pakistani supermarkets, Haji Muhammad Yasin and Sohail Khawar.
Ghauri discussed in detail the economic characteristics of Pakistan at the luncheon. He suggested that the government should develop new modern cities where 10 percent of the land would be provided free of charge to entrepreneurs and corporate groups to set up the basic infrastructure, modern business centres, banks and institutions in the city. He said the remaining 90 percent of the city would be settled with the help of foreign investment.
He praised the vision of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Saudi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman and said that the two leaders of the Islamic world have opened new paths. He said that Saudi Arabia is building modern cities, especially Neom, which has started new economic activities in the region.
Ghauri said that new modern cities will create employment opportunities for labourers in Pakistan and the concentration of population will not be limited to a few big cities. He said new jobs would also be created in the corporate sector.
Haji Muhammad Yasin and Sohail Khawar gave more suggestions to improve the economic system of the country and discussed in detail the role of overseas Pakistanis in this regard.
