ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Thursday said that the caretaker government would ensure full use of the forum of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
Terming the SIFC a ray of hope for Pakistan’s economic development, the prime minister said that the government would focus on development of different sectors under the umbrella of SIFC, the official news agency reported.
Addressing a meeting held here in connection with the working of SIFC, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said the government would devote all its energies to the stability and development of Pakistan’s economy during its short tenure.
He directed to harmonise the regulatory structure with the contemporary international requirements to improve the energy sector of the country.
He said Pakistan had vast potential for foreign investment in the fields of agriculture, mining and minerals, IT, energy and defence production.
During the meeting, Secretary SIFC Jahanzeb Khan and Jameel Ahmed Qureshi briefed the prime minister on steps taken to bolster foreign direct investment.
The prime minister was informed about the steps taken to create opportunities for foreign investment in agriculture, mining and minerals, IT, energy and defence production under the Special Investment Facilitation Council.
The PM was also informed about the whole of the government approach to facilitate the investors and increasing the foreign investment under SIFC.
The meeting was further informed that under this forum, the government would provide one window facility to the investors for different projects.
Prime Minister Kakar appreciated the efforts of Jahanzeb Khan and Jamil Ahmed Qureshi to promote investment in the country under SIFC.
Kakar believed that the SIFC would play its vital role in improving the country’s economy. He said there was huge potential for foreign investment in the projects of infrastructure and tourism.
