The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to upgrade cricket facilities and promote cricketing activities across Islamabad. The agreement was finalized during a meeting between CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa and PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed. Senior CDA officials, including Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, and Director Sports and Culture, also attended.
Under the MoU, a comprehensive Talent Hunt Program will be launched to encourage young boys and girls in Islamabad to participate in cricket. The initiative aims to ensure transparent selection processes while offering international-standard coaching and training to emerging players. As part of the partnership, PCB will support CDA in upgrading two cricket grounds in the federal capital.
PCB COO Sameer Ahmed reaffirmed the board’s commitment to working closely with CDA, stating that these efforts will not only uplift cricket in Islamabad but also help uncover exceptional young talent.

CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa highlighted that the authority is undertaking broad measures to transform Islamabad into a hub for national and international sports. He noted that development is underway not only in cricket but also in facilities for hockey, football, and other sports.
Randhawa added that revenue generated from cricket and other sports grounds will be reinvested into sports promotion and infrastructure improvement. He also confirmed that a women’s cricket team is being formed to further encourage female participation in the sport.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of both institutions’ commitment to promoting cricket and fostering healthy activities among the youth, with the broader goal of transforming Islamabad into a state-of-the-art sports and recreation center.
