Officials informed the meeting that the new Solid Waste Management System has been divided into two packages to ensure better coverage and service delivery across the city. It was also decided that the private sector will be involved in solid waste management, environmental services and community services to meet increasing urban and governance demands.
Malik Abrar Ahmed said private sector participation will help bring transparency, efficiency and modern technology into the system, while Anjum Aqeel Khan stressed the need to adopt contemporary service standards to meet the city’s growing requirements.
Randhawa assured that the new system will not affect the jobs of existing CDA employees. The meeting concluded with an agreement to develop a comprehensive plan to provide uniform and quality services across all sectors of Islamabad, including urban and rural areas.
