ISLAMABAD: In line with the directives of Chairman Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, an extensive campaign has been launched across the federal capital for the installation of manhole covers, repair of footpaths and restoration of damaged kerb stones.
According to the CDA, instructions have been issued to all relevant departments of the authority, the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad and the ICT administration to ensure immediate implementation of the campaign.
The drive aims to enhance public safety, particularly for children, and improve civic facilities in both urban and rural areas of Islamabad. Under the initiative, all open gutters and manholes will be covered with standard and secure covers.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that every manhole within the limits of the federal capital — whether under the jurisdiction of CDA, PTCL, Wapda, SNGPL or any other organisation — would be covered without exception.
“This special campaign will continue until all open manholes are properly covered. The safety of citizens is our top priority,” he said.
Following the chairman’s directions, teams from CDA, MCI and the district administration have been active in the field since Thursday. The CDA has urged citizens to inform the administration if they notice any open or unsafe manhole or gutter in their area.
In addition, restoration work on footpaths and the replacement of damaged kerb stones along roads and walkways is also underway. The repair of broken and worn-out footpaths in older sectors and markaz areas has been fast-tracked to improve public convenience and enhance the city’s appearance.
Randhawa directed all concerned teams to maintain a strong field presence to promptly address public complaints and ensure efficient service delivery. He said the measures would not only improve safety but also help preserve Islamabad’s clean, organised and aesthetic environment.
