Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, has taken a stern stance against misconduct and misleading behavior during a property case hearing. On Thursday, the Chief Justice imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on a lawyer involved in the case for actions that not only misled the court but also consumed unnecessary amounts of time.
The lawyer in question found himself facing the Chief Justice’s reprimand due to his failure to present the required documents in the property case. This misconduct prompted Chief Justice Isa to take action against the attorney.
“The lawyer attempted to deceive the court,” remarked Chief Justice Isa during the hearing, expressing his deep concern over the lawyer’s actions. Furthermore, the Chief Justice voiced his lack of confidence in the lawyer’s conduct, stating, “The court does not have confidence in your actions.”
In a bid to rectify the situation and make amends for his misconduct, Chief Justice Isa instructed the lawyer to provide a receipt confirming the deposit of the Rs 5,000 fine to a charitable organization of his choosing. This decision not only holds the lawyer accountable for his actions but also encourages a charitable contribution to serve a greater purpose.
This incident serves as a reminder of the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of conduct in the courtroom, ensuring transparency, fairness, and the efficient use of court resources.
