CJP takes suo motu notice over delay in K-P, Punjab elections

Islamabad: The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has taken suo motu notice on the issue of delay in elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which will be heard by a nine-member bench today.

According to the details, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court constituted a 9-member bench which will hear the case today at 2 pm.

The 9-member bench will be headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan while other members of the bench include Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Yahya Khan Afridi, Justice Mazahir Naqvi, Justice Jamal Khan Mandukhel, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Athar Min Allah included.

On the other hand, the government has objected to the inclusion of two judges, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Mazahir Naqvi, in the nine-member bench. Rana Sanaullah said that we hope both the judges will leave the bench due to our concerns.
