CM Naqvi Declares Free Treatment and Swift Action Against Substandard Injections

Lahore: In a resolute response to a recent health concern, Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, has taken swift action to address the issue of substandard injections that have adversely affected citizens. In a Sunday announcement, he assured the public of free medical treatment for those impacted by the use of these subpar medical products.

Expressing his determination to hold those responsible accountable, Naqvi announced immediate and stringent measures against drug inspectors who allowed non-sterile injections to circulate in the market. He made this declaration during a press conference held at the CM Office.

Additionally, the caretaker Chief Minister unveiled the formation of a high-powered inquiry team tasked with investigating the origins of the substandard injections and the negligence that led to their distribution.

To safeguard public health, Naqvi ordered the immediate cessation of the sale of these questionable injections and the removal of existing stock from the market. He emphasized that the injections would remain off the market until the inquiry report is submitted.

“Police have been instructed to ensure the swift arrests of those individuals responsible for this health crisis,” Naqvi affirmed during the press conference.

The gravity of the situation became apparent during a meeting held at the CM Office, where healthcare professionals provided a detailed briefing on incidents of vision loss caused by these substandard eye injections. Specialized eye doctors explained the proper usage of injections and their administration methods. The meeting also focused on preventive measures and strategies for eradicating conjunctivitis disease.

Prominent figures attending the meeting included Provincial Ministers Dr. Javed Akram, Dr. Jamal Nasir, and Amir Mir, along with Chief Secretary and secretaries from various government departments. Notable eye specialists, including Dr. Asad Aslam, Dr. Huma, Dr. Khalid Waheed, and Dr. Hamid Ayoub, also participated, contributing their expertise to the discussion.

Punjab’s caretaker government is determined to resolve this health crisis swiftly and comprehensively, ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
