COAS honors Arshad Nadeem for Historic Win at Paris Olympics

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Friday lauded extraordinary achievement of Arshad Nadeem  for securing Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in a singles’ event at the Paris Olympics 2024. The javelin thrower not only won the gold but also set a new Olympic record, a feat attributed by the COAS to Nadeem’s unwavering commitment, perseverance, and passion for excellence.

During the ceremony, which was organized by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir underscored Arshad’s inspirational journey from his humble beginnings to achieving global recognition. The Army Chief highlighted the significance of hard work and determination in realizing one’s dreams and acknowledged Arshad’s achievement as a moment of national pride.

“This remarkable accomplishment has brought immense honor to the nation, and Arshad Nadeem’s dedication stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all Pakistanis, especially the youth,” the COAS remarked.

Reaffirming the military’s commitment to fostering talent, General Munir emphasized the importance of Youth Engagement, Development, and Entertainment as key pillars for building a healthy and prosperous society. He pledged continued support for Pakistani athletes and the youth at large, encouraging them to pursue excellence in their respective fields.

The event was graced by the presence of several sports teams and legendary Olympians, including members of the 1984 Olympic and National Hockey Teams, the National Cricket Team, and other distinguished athletes like Jehangir Khan, Islah Ud Din, Shahbaz Senior, Sohail Abbas, Muhammad Asif, and Aisam-ul-Haq. Arshad Nadeem’s close relatives, associates, and coaches were also in attendance.

Expressing his gratitude, Arshad Nadeem emphasized the untapped potential of Pakistani youth and stressed the importance of hard work, positivity, and perseverance in overcoming challenges to achieve success.

This historic event serves as a testament to the nation’s commitment to nurturing its sportsmen and a reminder of the boundless potential that lies within the youth of Pakistan.
