COAS Leads 261st Corps Commanders’ Conference, Stresses National Security

Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir presided over the two-day-long 261st Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) held at GHQ on Thursday. The forum paid heartfelt tribute to the supreme sacrifices of Shuhadas, including officers and armed forces personnel, law enforcement agencies, and citizens who sacrificed their lives for peace and stability in Pakistan.

According to a press release by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the participants offered Fateha for the Shuhadas, particularly those affected by the DI Khan attack. The Corps Commanders’ Conference reiterated the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country against both direct and indirect threats.

Expressing serious concern over continued repression and human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the forum condemned recent acts of abduction, torture, and killing of civilians by the Indian army. Participants labeled such acts as grave crimes against humanity, emphasizing that they cannot dampen the spirit of the brave Kashmiris struggling for their lawful right of self-determination. The conference affirmed Pakistan’s continued support for its Kashmiri brethren through political, moral, and diplomatic means, following international law and relevant UNSC resolutions.

The forum delved into the prevalent geo-strategic environment, national security challenges, and Pakistan’s evolving strategy in response to these threats. Notable concerns included the sanctuaries and liberty of action available to terrorists, particularly those associated with proscribed groups like TTP, in neighboring countries, as well as the availability of advanced weaponry to these elements.

The conference emphasized that all terrorists, their facilitators, and abettors, acting on behalf of hostile forces to destabilize Pakistan, will face the full might of the state. Expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine, the forum condemned human rights violations and war crimes in Gaza, calling for an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.

Reiterating support for socioeconomic growth and foreign investment under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the conference also reviewed actions against smuggling, money laundering, power theft, and hoarding of essential items. COAS stressed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to providing support to relevant government institutions and LEAs to curb such crimes. Additionally, necessary support will be extended to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the forthcoming general election.

The COAS concluded the conference by emphasizing the need for continuous operational excellence, maintaining high standards of motivation and training in both cognitive and physical realms.
