RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir visited Bahawalpur Garrison on Thursday, where he was briefed on operational, training and administrative matters of the corps, with special emphasis on preparations for multi-domain warfare, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
During the visit, the army chief witnessed a high-intensity field exercise, Steadfast Resolve, at Khairpur Tamewali. The exercise demonstrated integration of niche technologies, including unmanned aerial systems, advanced surveillance assets, electronic warfare capabilities and modern command-and-control mechanisms, reflecting the armed forces’ focus on technology-enabled multi-domain operations.
Addressing the troops, the army chief praised their high morale, professional competence and operational readiness. He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats, stressing the importance of maintaining optimal readiness to meet future battlefield and security challenges.
He said the character of warfare had evolved significantly due to rapid technological advancements, requiring a major mental and operational transformation at all levels. He noted that future conflicts would increasingly rely on technological manoeuvres rather than purely physical ones, fundamentally changing the conduct of offensive and defensive operations. In this regard, he said, the armed forces were rapidly embracing innovation, indigenisation and adaptation.
Earlier, the army chief inaugurated the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub aimed at promoting digital skills and learning opportunities for students, particularly from southern Punjab. He also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reaffirming the army’s commitment to quality education and character building.
Later, he visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on maintenance regimes to sustain modern platforms through advanced technologies, indigenisation and other combat support measures.
Upon arrival at Bahawalpur Garrison, the army chief was received by the commander Bahawalpur Corps. He also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha in tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs.
