Constitutional benches set to hear cases on Nov 14 and 15

Supreme Court Justice Aminuddin Khan chaired a meeting to discuss the formation of constitutional benches ahead of important hearings scheduled for November 14 and 15. The meeting, which lasted an hour, confirmed that six judges would handle constitutional cases on these dates.

Justice Jamal Mandokhail attended in person, while Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar joined via telephone from Karachi. According to the Supreme Court Registrar, the meeting focused on implementing the 26th Constitutional Amendment, which mandates these benches. Justice Mazhar will arrive in Islamabad on Wednesday, after which another meeting, led by Justice Khan, will finalize the bench formations.

The committee, briefed on case referrals, decided to prioritize older cases. However, Justice Ayesha Malik will not be available for the November 14 and 15 sessions. Following the meeting, the Registrar was directed to publish a hearing schedule for the cases.
