Rawalpindi: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, Gen Syed Asim Munir, presided over the 260th Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday. The conference covered a range of crucial topics and issues affecting Pakistan’s national security and well-being.
During the conference, participants expressed their condolences by offering Fateha for the Shuhadas (martyrs) who lost their lives in incidents in Mastung, Hangu, and Zhob during the Holy month of Rabiul-Awwal. The gathering also paid tribute to the continued sacrifices made by Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies in their fight against terrorism.
A significant resolution passed during the conference was the determination to deal resolutely with all terrorists, their facilitators, and abettors who are working to destabilize Pakistan on behalf of hostile forces.
The forum was provided with a briefing on the prevailing geo-strategic environment and the evolving national security challenges. The participants reiterated Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan against all forms of direct and indirect threats.
In a statement regarding the Gaza-Israel conflict, the COAS expressed concern over the substantial human cost being imposed on innocent civilians due to the disproportionate use of force by Israel. Pakistan affirmed its support for the Palestinian people, emphasizing diplomatic, moral, and political support in their quest for a lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue and an end to the unlawful occupation of their territories and sacred places.
The conference also voiced its full support for strategic initiatives planned by the government of Pakistan to boost the country’s economy and enhance the well-being of its people.
Participants at the CCC also conducted a comprehensive review of actions taken against illegal economic activities. The COAS underlined the Pakistan Army’s commitment to supporting government and law enforcement agencies in taking lawful actions against illegal economic activities across the nation. The forum resolved to strengthen actions against hoarding and smuggling mafias and cartels to eliminate the negative impact of such practices.
Another notable decision taken during the conference was the full support for the federal government’s decision to repatriate and deport all illegal foreigners starting from November 1, 2023. The COAS directed all relevant authorities to ensure a smooth, respectable, and safe repatriation and deportation process for all illegal foreigners.
In conclusion, the COAS emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism and motivation during operations and stressed the importance of achieving excellence during the training of military formations.
