Karachi: Tragedy struck Karachi as Deputy Superintendent Police DSP Ali Raza of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Investigations was brutally assassinated by unidentified gunmen in the city’s Karimabad area on Sunday.
DSP Ali Raza, a distinguished officer known for his service and dedication, fell victim to a targeted attack near a residential building. The assailants, armed with a 9mm pistol equipped with a silencer, opened fire on Ali as he exited his bullet-proof vehicle. The attack resulted in fatal injuries to both Ali Raza and a security guard of the building, who lost his life in the crossfire.
CTD Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Asif Aijaz Shaikh vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice, emphasizing that no effort would be spared in apprehending those responsible for the heinous act. The police recovered 11 spent bullet casings from the crime scene, indicating the intensity of the attack.

Senior CTD officials, including Raja Umar Khattab, Mazhar Mashwani, and Khurram Waris, swiftly responded to the scene. Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area, initiating a thorough investigation to uncover the motives behind the targeted killing.
DIG Asif Aijaz Shaikh cautioned against speculations on the motives behind the attack, highlighting that a comprehensive probe was underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to DSP Ali Raza’s tragic demise. He affirmed that all CTD officers face inherent risks due to the nature of their duties.
