CTD Operation Yields Arrest of Al-Qaeda Commanders and Terrorists

Lahore: A major breakthrough has been achieved as the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) announced the apprehension of eight terrorists, including two prominent Al-Qaeda commanders, in a series of Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) conducted on Saturday.

This strategic and coordinated effort unfolded across several cities in Punjab, showcasing a significant stride in the ongoing battle against terrorism.

The synchronized operations took place in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Multan, resulting in the capture of these suspects.

From Lahore, the CTD operation successfully led to the capture of two high-ranking Al-Qaeda commanders, Kashaan and Hassan. The operation also uncovered a cache of alarming materials, including explosive substances, detonators, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), mobile communication devices, and a substantial sum of currency.

The individuals detained, identified as Liaqat, Hassan, Kashaan, Gul Karim, Ayub Khan, Ameer Muavia, and Rizwan, have been associated with activities that pose a significant threat to public safety.

These arrests underscore the unwavering commitment of law enforcement agencies to combatting terrorism in the region.

The CTD spokesperson confirmed that a thorough investigation is currently underway, with formal cases filed against the apprehended suspects.

Recent efforts have culminated in the arrest of 135 suspects through 336 exhaustive combing operations carried out in the preceding week alone. Additionally, a staggering 16,784 individuals have undergone rigorous questioning by law enforcement authorities.

Emphasizing their dedication, the CTD spokesperson reiterated the agency’s resolute determination to eliminate the specter of terrorism from Punjab. This steadfast initiative aims to ensure the security and well-being of the population, taking a definitive stride towards a lasting state of tranquility.
