Dubai: The UNESCO-listed town of Český Krumlov in South Bohemia is set to dazzle visitors this winter with the launch of its Winter Illuminations Festival, running from December 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026.
The festival will transform the historic riverside town into a magical winter wonderland, offering travellers from the GCC and beyond a chance to experience Czech culture through light, art, and storytelling in a family-friendly setting.
The highlight of the celebration will be the Evening Light Trails, illuminating the town’s castle grounds, cobbled streets, and riverside paths with creative light installations and interactive art displays. Visitors can also join guided tours combining local folklore and modern visual art.

Weekly cultural performances — featuring traditional Czech music, dance, and theatrical storytelling — will further enrich the festival’s atmosphere. Families can take part in hands-on workshops like lantern-making and light painting, with storytelling sessions offered in English and Arabic for younger guests.
Located just 2.5 hours from Prague, Český Krumlov is easily accessible by road, with private transport options available for families and tour groups.
