DUBAI: Dubai International Airport (DXB) has introduced the Smart Red Carpet Corridor, an AI-powered immigration system that allows passengers to complete formalities within seconds without presenting a passport or boarding pass, officials said.
The initiative, launched by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai) in collaboration with Dubai Airports, is the world’s first passenger corridor powered entirely by artificial intelligence. Currently operational at Terminal 3’s Business Class Departure Hall, the system is estimated to reduce processing times by 20 to 30 percent.
The corridor uses biometric and AI technology to capture and verify passengers’ identities against pre-stored data. Officials said the process takes only six to 14 seconds per traveler, with up to 10 passengers able to pass through simultaneously, significantly speeding up immigration procedures. Families, in particular, benefit from the time saved.

Fathima Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of the Project Management Office at GDRFA Dubai, described the Red Carpet as “the latest advancement in immigration processes,” noting that it enhances passenger experience while reinforcing Dubai’s vision of becoming the world’s leading city to live, work, and travel.

Following successful trials, authorities plan to expand the Smart Red Carpet service across all DXB terminals. Al Mazrouei also highlighted future projects under the Smart Center concept, including new digital platforms to improve residency, identity, and other GDRFA services.
“The Red Carpet sends a clear message to the world. We are not only providing digital services but also enhancing the passenger experience at Dubai International Airport,” she added.
