DUBAI: Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially launched its autonomous taxi service, deploying an initial fleet of 100 driverless vehicles across the city’s transport network.
The service has been introduced in Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah, key residential and commercial areas along Dubai’s coastline that are popular among residents and tourists.
The taxis are being operated in partnership with Chinese autonomous driving technology firms and are accessible to the public through the Uber app as well as the Apollo Go platform.
Authorities said the number of driverless vehicles will gradually increase in the coming years to meet rising demand and support Dubai’s vision for advanced and sustainable mobility solutions.
The initiative marks a significant step in integrating autonomous transport into urban infrastructure as the emirate continues to invest in future-focused technologies.
