DUBAI: Dubai Police delivered a series of informative lectures and workshops as part of the ‘Accident-Free Day’ initiative, benefiting over 7,900 individuals, including several government departments, private entities, school bus drivers, and parents.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, affirmed that the informative lectures and workshops aimed to promote adherence to safety and security standards, respecting traffic rules and regulations, and ensuring the safety of road users, particularly school students. He highlighted that these lectures and workshops featured essential measures and laws to be followed during student transportation, including observing the speed limit, adhering to mandatory lanes, avoiding distractions while driving, and recognising the significant social responsibility entrusted to bus drivers by families and society, emphasising the pivotal role played by these drivers.
Maj. Gen. Al Mazroui urged parents to comply with traffic laws, regulations, traffic signs, and instructions from traffic officers, emphasising the importance of exercising caution and being mindful, wearing seat belts, practising patience, and following the designated lanes. He emphasised the need for appropriate use of parking spaces without obstructing others and avoiding parking in unauthorised areas, highlighting the significance of adhering to the signage displayed near schools, which encourages reducing speed, increasing alertness, exercising caution, and anticipating the mistakes of others.
The programme of the informative lectures and workshops is in support of the ‘Accidents-Free Day’ initiative, which aims to promote traffic awareness, encourage the implementation of safety measures, and evaluate the behaviour of bus drivers, thereby achieving the highest levels of traffic safety and ensuring the preservation of lives and property.
