Dubai to host IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships

DUBAI: The IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships will be played at the Dubai World Trade Centre from June 9-20.

At the championships, which were originally scheduled to be played from November 16-27 but were postponed, hosts United Arab Emirates will welcome over 300 international wheelchair basketball players representing 16 men’s and 12 women’s teams to compete over 12 days of competition at the showcase event.

Noble Future Land Investment LLC and NFL AGVSS Sports Academy are partnering Dubai Club for People of Determination in the organisation of the World Championships.

Teams from countries including United States, Great Britain, Germany, Brazil, Canada, United Arab Emirates and the Gulf region are participating in the tournament.

Dubai Club for People of Determination and NFL AGVSS Sports Academy jointly organised a media briefing at a local hotel in connection with the IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships.

A number of government and semi-government officials attended the event. In addition to high officials, important figures of Dubai Club for People of Determination, including H.E. Mr. Thani Al Falasi, Chairman of Dubai Club for People of Determination; Mr. Adil Darwish, Secretary General of UAE Athletic Federation; Mr. Abdullah Murad, General Secretary B Sports, NFL AGVSS Sports Academy Chairman Mr. Asif Ali Chaudhary, NFL AGVSS Sports Academy Manager Mr. Shushant Jabre, NFL Directors Mr. Shamir Shahid, Mr. Kashif and Mr. Zaheer Al Sheikh, Media Director Raja Obaidur Rahman, Ms. Hina Kumar, Mr. Adnan Abbas, Mr. Ashok Kumar and a large number of fans, media persons, social media influencers including Abdul Ghafoor and Muhammad Shakoor (Zamzam Electronics) and businessmen were present on the occasion.

Chairman Dubai Club for People of Determination His Excellency Mr. Thani Al Falasi said that it was a pleasure to be hosting the IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

“As the chairman of the Dubai Club for People of Determination, I welcome the 28 teams from 20 countries to the IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships 2022 and hope that our event partner NFL AGVSS Sports Academy Chairman Asif Ali Chaudhry and his entire team will support us in making this global competition a success.”

Mr. Asif Ali Chaudhry said: “As the chairman of NFL Investment LLC, I am grateful to His Excellency Mr. Thani Al Falasi, Chairman of Dubai Club for People of Determination, who, along with myself and my group have trusted AGVSS Sports Academy and given us the opportunity to be a part of this mega event.”

NFL AGVSS Sports Academy Manager Mr. Shushant Jabre said: “Our collaboration with Dubai Club for People of Determination is a matter of honour for us. Thank you for making us a part of this mega event.”

NFL Group Chairman Mr. Asif Ali Chaudhary and Chairman Dubai Club for People of Determination H.E. Mr. Tahani Al Falasi declared famous influencers of Zamzam Electronics, Abdul Ghafoor and Muhammad Shakoor, as ambassadors of the championships.
